Recently Kasuganomichi became a hot spot. Mr. Narita of [LANTIKI], a popular shop in Kobe, recommends some shops/restaurants around Kasuganomichi. He lives there and eats there over 10 years.

Mr. Ryohei Narita, the store manager of [ Jibasan LANTIKI ]

He is a famous store manager of [ Jibasan LANTIKI ] focused on the local industry in Hyogo. He lives in a quiet residential area, Kasuganomichi over 10 years. Lately he is into bakery hopping.

[ Vent Vert ] is a traditional bakery in business for 40 years. A lot of students and office workers stop by there before commuting since the shop is located on the shopping street in front of the station and it is open early in the morning. So, some items are sold out before noon. Mr. Narita loves sandwiches with whatever ingredients, and flavorful and spicy curry bread. He said, “This is the best bakery for simple bread. Most of the bread has a mild taste, so I can eat as much as I want.”

Okonomiyaki with appetizing savor of Japanese broth at the well-known restaurant in the old town [ Tsukumo ]

[ Tsukumo ] is the Okonomiyaki restaurant Mr. Narita frequents. He said, “I definitely come here if I urge to eat Okonomiyaki.” Mr. Hideo Takahashi, the 2nd-generation owner cooks Okonomiyaki one by one on a large griddle. The dough is mixed with iriko (dried sardine) broth. The Okonomiyaki is like melting in your mouth since he cooks softly. The special sauce blended several kinds of sauces makes Okonomiyaki yummier! The Yasaiyaki (vegetable Okonomiyaki), that you can add some ingredients such as cabbage, onion and meat, is also a popular dish, too.

[ Nick Shin-Kobe station ] is the 2nd shop of [ Nick ], a butcher shop at Nakayamatedori. This shop is located in the JR Shin-Kobe station Entree Marche. Only this 2nd shop offers “roast beef cutlet sandwich”, so the customers can bring them into Shinkansen (bullet train). The healthy Australian non-GMO beef is used. They quickly deep fry the roast beef and generously douse it with their original sauce. Mr. Narita said, “I go to Shin-Kobe station for this.”

Enjoy curry with wine [ MANDRILL CURRY DEPOT ]

[ MANDRILL CURRY DEPOT ] is the 2nd shop of a popular curry shop located in front of Hyogo prefectural government’s office. They have a casual atmosphere and only have seats at the bar. They offer only 2 menu items; “Mandrill curry” using beef tendon, and the curry of the day. The taste of the curry is between Japanese one and Indian one. It tastes spicy and rich. Mr. Narita enjoys curry and tandoori chicken with wine and said, “I enjoy not only the curry of the day but also some wine recommended by the owner.”

Bakery opened only 3 times a day and during the evening [ Komichi no Panya-san Kate ]

[ Komichi no Panya-san Kate ] is a mobile bakery which opens only the evening of Thursday to Saturday. Their kitchen in Rokkosan uses natural yeast to make breads. It’s nice that the stuff explains how they bake and how to eat the breads maximized the flavor of wheat. Mr. Narita said, “I fell in love with their bread in just one bite. All of them are so good. The Scarpetta, macerated garlic sauce is my favorite.”
